I have a good skill in reading/listening English but when I need to write or speak I have very bad anxiety. Even typing this sentence was very hard for me. Maybe I'm too stoopid for speaking foreign languages?
>>2578676 I'm tired. I watched the first episode and then just fucked off to Youtube to binge every "what happened with the reactor, illustrated" I could find. Should probably finish the show sometime. Probably won't.
>>2578791 > How will do words zapas shire? Read books/comics/manga, watch cartoons with english subtitles (they have simpler language than films and actors don't mumble as much). Reddit, maybe. >>2578796 Oh shit, so i have everything spoiled, lol. Thanks, maybe I'll do it after all. I do have it downloaded, so it will weigh on my conscience.
I've been working at the international company for three years now. We have a lot of foreigners working here so you just have to speak English daily as it's the main communication language inside the company. Luckily most of colleagues are not native speakers also and you don't need to know rarely used words at all, strong intermediate is enough for daily usage. It's not that hard to learn it when everyone around is speaking English all the time and you don't have another option.
>>2578828 That's cool. I really envy you kindly, cause I don't have the opportunity to communicate with other English-speakers, but I would like. However, I can't just do it in other social networks, because I'm very shy and also it's hard to speak with strangers, especially foreign. I just want to be in these daily situations when you HAVE TO speak english only.
Sup, I'm tired af, I've spent the whole day working and I wanna just HAVE SOME FUCKING REST btw recently I met one girl from the USA, she's a volunteer and she's the nicest person I've ever met lol
>>2578902 Thank you Alexsey Vilnusov, didn't deceive us Good thread, i will subscribe on it OP is right about language, i think that to know the language at a simple lvl is important in our society, coz English needs for example at work if you want get good money in good country or just get good position (i don't know the right version of the russian word "должность", sorry, you can correct me in grammar if you want ).
Hi there. I’m studying foreign languages at the university(English and Spanish). The reason why I doing it is that I don’t want to live in Russia since the time when I was in primary school. People in Russia may be nice, but the mentality of the most Russian people is awful and annoy me. I wish I could born somewhere in Norway, Latin America or England, USA. What about you, sisters?
>>2579094 why I doing it -> why I'm doing it mentality of the most Russian people is awful and annoy me -> mentality of most Russian people is awful and annoys me wish I could born -> wish I could be born
I'm going to visit UK this summer, but I'm afraid of my speech. I can imitate british accent while watching series or Youtube but when I'm trying to speak with foreigners in voice chat (in game), my accent is turning to VeRy RuSsIaN aCcEnT, and I always forget half of the vocabulary in panic.
>>2579454 There is literally nothing wrong with foreign accents. Russian language is pretty homogeneous but English has a lot of regional accents and different accents don't scare them as us. And since English is an international language they got used to foreigners spoiling it anyway.
>>2579094 "Mentality" is a Russian buzzword and doesn't even exist. You are a russophobic pidorashka, sis, and this is exactly why we can't have nice things, meh.
>>2579454 How much do you expect to talk to locals? (oof, that sentence doesn't look right) You don't need to be that articulate to order some food or ask where the bus stop is. I found myself mostly listening in a situation similar to yours. 'Sorry/thanks/no worries/no, the magnetic stripe doesn't work, you have to... you have to insert it, yeah. Only the chip works. Thanks.'
>>2579454 An outsorced worker here drawing a comic series for one big badass company. I chat with my producer senpai on daily basis.
When we first contacted he told me something that I think every non-english speaker should always keep in mind: whenever you want to say something DON'T THINK JUST SAY IT, I'll understand. Don't worry about your misspellings or accent, I don't care as long as I can understand you.
It actually works. I'm not shy about my english anymore and we perfectly understand each other.
The point is, don't try to make your english PERFECT, just speak it.
>>2579832 *like a native (My level is 'can read/watch things in English most of the time, can converse via text fairly well, can't speak to save my life')
>>2580157 also, LOL, I read a lot of stupid English fanfictions JUST FOR FUN idk why but it helps you to increase your speaking skills and your understanding of their mindset yes the mindset of little silly girls huh huh
>>2580161 >stupid English fanfictions >yes the mindset of little silly girls huh huh Argh. 'Oh sugar daddy please pay my student loans slurp slurp' Every OTP has this shit in top of ao3. Even ficbook is better.
>>2579454 Why should you imitate british accent, if your aren't british? Why do you think the germans, or the italians aren't shy of their accent when they speak English? Just because they don't consider themselves worse than others. Russian is very beautiful language and russian culture isn't worse than other cultures. So we shouldn't be shy of our accent, first of all, because accent is a normal phenomenon and then because we must finally have at least some pride.
